The I-66 Slugging Challenge

The I-66 Slugging Challenge is a 66-day event that begins September 14th and goes through November 20th. For every trip that you slug, you will be entered to win a $100 gift card in a weekly raffle.

Turn Your Commute Into a Chance to Win

Every time you slug, you'll earn an entry into that week's drawing for a $100 gift card. Whether you're a rider or a driver, each eligible trip increases your chances of being selected as a weekly winner. At the end of the I-66 Slugging Challenge, the participant who logs the most verified slugging trips during the challenge period will receive a $250 Grand Prize.

  • A few weeks ahead of the Challenge, you’ll receive an email with next steps.
  • Drivers: Make sure you have an E‑ZPass Flex transponder mounted in your vehicle and know how to switch it to HOV mode when traveling with three or more occupants.
  • You’ll get access to Challenge updates, slugging tips, and incentive opportunities.
  • You’ll receive information about I-66 Slugging Challenge office hours where you can meet others interested in slugging and ask questions.
  • You’ll be part of a growing community of smart I-66 commuters!
